Sangeet Mala dance group Sangeet Mala, Scotland's first Asian language musical group, brought a taste of Bollywood to Holyrood today when they launched the Festival of Politics programme 2006.

Indrani Bhattacharya (20), Sadiah Mir (15) and Farha Reza (17), will take part in one of around 50 events taking place at the Scottish Parliament in August. (They are photographed left to right.)

Leading entrepreneur, Michelle Mone and Liberal Democrat leader, Menzies Campbell, also gave their support to the Festival.

Menzies Campbell, who will discuss his life in politics, his vision for the Liberal Democrats and for Scotland during an 'In Conversation' interview, said:

"Since 1999 the establishment of the Scottish Parliament has changed many aspects of life in Scotland, and with the creation last year of the Festival of Politics the Parliament itself is adding to the cultural life of Scotland.

"Over the centuries Edinburgh has contributed much to the advancement of political thought and it is fitting that in this, the city of festivals, there should be an event dedicated to the ideas and institutions which govern all our lives."

Michelle Mone, who will take part in an event on the Scottish economy along with Rachel Elnaugh and Chris Gorman, said:

"The Festival of Politics is a great initiative involving people from all walks of life in discussion about how best to shape our country.

"I believe that there are many more entrepreneurs out there and several things that can be done to help them develop their ideas into good going businesses.  I look forward to hearing the parliamentarians pitch their vision for the Scottish economy."

Michelle is recognised as one of the UK 's top female entrepreneurs. She manages a growing business portfolio and now owns seven of the biggest lingerie and swimwear brands.
