Saturday 20 August
Get the Picture (Young People’s Day)
To launch the Festival, an invited audience of over 150 young people from around Scotland will come together to explain and explore their issues, now and for the future.
Delegates will share what matters to them by meeting in the "Marketplace", followed by creative and participative workshops led by Conzo Studios, PhotoVoice, Scottish Cartoon Art Studio, Scottish Peer Education Network, Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) and STV Local. The finale will be a debate in the Chamber, with interactive voting, facilitated by John Loughton. John was Chair of SYP in 2007 before being voted the winner of Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack in 2008. John went on to be a member of the Calman Commission on Scottish Devolution. John will be joined on the platform by Grant Costello and Rae Cahill, the current Chair and Vice Chair of SYP, whilst delegates debate and find solutions to three hot topics, chosen by young people.
Entries to a unique reporting competition will be judged by the delegates before an expert panel picks a winner to be announced in the Chamber. More details of the event can be found here: Get the Picture
